J.D. Martinez leaves his first game with the Diamondbacks after being hit by a pitch

J.D. Martinez was hit in the hand by a pitch Wednesday in his first game with the Diamondbacks after being traded from Detroit, and has been removed from the game. This was his first time being hit by a pitch all year.

The fourth inning was a great success for the Rockies, with six total runs and three homers for the team.

They didn’t look back after that, as they thumped the Padres by 14 runs in an 18-4 victory. Seven of those runs belonged to Arenado, which means he beat San Diego all by himself and didn’t even need those first two RBI to do it.

Arenado’s bashes traveled a combined 1,266 feet, with his final homer an absolute bomb to left field.

It’s both the first five-hit game for Arenado and the first three-home run game of his career, and when you add those seven RBI to his impressive day, it makes him the first Colorado player to ever put up that stat line in a single game. He’s only the sixth player in the entire league to manage that in the last 10 years.

Teammate Trevor Story reacted to Arenado’s day by saying “Yep. That’s Nolan.” and explaining the entire thing felt pretty ordinary.

Ken Griffey Jr., Félix Hernández, and Edgar Martinez have been scintillating to watch too, yet the star I grew up with more than any of them was Ichiro. 5’11, 175 lb Ichiro Suzuki, who I shared little more than a handedness at the plate and a hat design with, was my hero and favorite Cheap Reversible Jerseys For Basketball player from 2001-2012. The 27-year-old rookie led the 2001 team that rode a Cheap Soccer Jerseys For Sale wave of extraordinary speed, defense, and unexpected career years to 116 wins.
