Jerry Jones: Jason Witten Might Not Retire

Jerry Jones said Friday he’s met several times with Jason Witten and that no decision has been made. The Cowboys owner said the future Hall of Fame tight end will take a few days before he makes an official decision, per Cheap Embroidered NFL Jerseys Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). Although, Rapoport adds Witten has made his decision to step away after 15 seasons.

ESPN.com’s Chris Mortensen reported earlier today that Witten plans to move into broadcasting, joining the revamped Monday Night Football crew for the 2018 season. If Witten follows through on his retirement plans, it stands to reason that the Cowboys will select a tight end in Round 2 or 3 of the draft on Friday night. However, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones’ comments indicate that might not happen.

Thoughts: I can justify just about any projection, but an offensive tackle? Taylor Decker is stellar on the left side and the Lions committed a monster, long-term contract to right tackle Rick Wagner last offseason. Nothing about Miller’s profile and skill set suggests he’s a fit at guard, so we’ll just assume Florio was working off a needs list for Cheap Goalkeeper Jerseys Detroit that hadn’t been updated since last year.

Franklin was getting a haircut Tuesday afternoon, saying he planned to go home to the Chicago area to watch the first two days of the draft on television in Tinley Park before making his way back to Kalamazoo for graduation day.

I’m a lot more excited than words can describe right now, Franklin said. I’m not only excited for the draft, but I’m about to graduate here on Saturday so I’m going to close up this whole entire collegiate book and open up the next one.

Franklin is 6 feet and 230 pounds, runs between the tackles and has the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.

Franklin was among four WMU players who participated in the NFL Combine last month in Indianapolis, joining offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor (Southfield), cornerback/kick returner Darius Phillips (Detroit/Dearborn Heights Robichaud) and tight end Donnie Ernsberger (Battle Creek Lakeview).
